You want more Trump? This is how you get more Trump

Why do progressives keep shooting themselves in their collective foot? Bob Unanue, the CEO of Goya Foods, the largest American Hispanic food company which employs 4,000 people, is a member of the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. Unanue, the grandson of the founder of the company, appeared with President Trump at the White House on July 9th. In prepared remarks, he stated that “we’re all truly blessed at the same time to have a leader like President Trump, who is a builder.…”

What happened next is a somewhat sad but, given the current political climate, not surprising. Progressives immediately went to Twitter to express their outrage that someone, anyone, would commend the Bad Orange Man for anything. Sandy the Bartender, a/k/a New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, tweeted her contempt for Unanue’s praise of the president. Congressman Julio Castro took a break from his Spanish lessons and also tweeted that Americans “should think twice before buying [Goya] products.”

“Boycott Goya” was birthed.

So, how is the boycott working out? It would seem not well. As a matter of fact, Goya products are flying off the shelves, as they say.

The backlash to the calls for a boycott has created a “buycott.” Francisco Marte is the secretary -treasurer for New York City’s Bodega and Small Business Association. He penned a piece in the New York Post on July 15th (“Sandy the Bartender,” above) urging consumers, especially Hispanic consumers, to support Goya by continuing to buy its products.

Toni Williams at Victorygirlsblog.com, in a post titled “Boycott Goya Fails Spectacularly”  noted that Casey Harper of Arlington, VA started a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $326,000 to buy Goya products to donate to food pantries (Harper started the campaign with a $10,000 goal).

To his great credit, Unanue refuses to apologize for his comments, noting that he had similar praise for President Obama when he visited the White House during the Obama administration (Drew Brees, maybe you should be taking notes).

Trump Derangement Syndrome is strong among progressives. To think that they wanted to hurt the Hispanic owner of a successful American company for the sole reason that he had kind words for the sitting President of the United States is mindboggling. But, I suppose, to be expected from progressives today. Can’t you see Castro and Ocasio-Cortez standing in the halls of Congress, clenching their fists, stamping their feet, their faces contorted in rage and steam coming out of their ears, screaming “Why did he say that? How dare he! Now we have to destroy him!” and whipping out their cell phones to get on Twitter.

Toni Williams said it best in her blog post: “The cancel mob is a bunch of internet terrorists. We must cheerfully defeat them. Every time they boycott, we must act as Casey Harper and act as happy warriors. Be happy and do good.”

  1. As far as I recall, never purchased any Goya products. Not for any particular reason, guess I never had a compelling reason to do so…until now!
“Sandy the Bartender” and comrades are out of control (at least in my opinion).
    TRUMP 2020…now more than ever!

  2. Bought some Goya Yellow Rice packets. Delicious. Also some Goya black beans which I’ve gotten many times but not always Goya and now some Dominican red beans which I’ve never heard of but looking forward to enjoying. Great products and a great company

I say…let the silent majority cry out from the wilderness and unite. Let your outer voice Be true to your inner voice…whose message is rushing through us like the falls at Niagra. The American way of life is at stake.

  9. I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I come across a
blog that’s both equally educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the
nail on the head. The problem is an issue that not enough people are
speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I found
this in my search for something relating to this.
